Truewright Documentation

Using Truewright

Truewright adds a single admin page to Jira Cloud for seeing who has access, deactivating stale accounts, and exporting the list. This page covers what each part does and how to set it up.

01

Finding the app

After installing from Marketplace, open Jira settings → Apps → Manage apps, or go directly to the Truewright admin page listed under your site's apps. It only appears for Jira admins.

02

User directory

The admin page opens straight into a table of everyone with product access on your site: name, email, account type, and active status. No setup needed — this works immediately after install, using Jira's standard user-directory permission.

03

Connecting an organization API key (optional)

To see last-active dates and billing status, or to deactivate accounts, generate an Atlassian organization API key:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com → your organization → Security → API keys.
  2. Create a key scoped to user management.
  3. Paste it into Truewright's "Connect organization" field.

The key is stored with Forge's encrypted secret storage, scoped to your installation. It's never sent anywhere except Atlassian's own api.atlassian.com. Remove it any time with the "Remove key" button — it deletes immediately.

04

Deactivating a user

With an organization key connected, each row gets a "Deactivate" action. It requires two clicks to confirm. You cannot deactivate your own account — that's enforced on the server regardless of what the client sends.

05

Exporting to CSV

Click "Export CSV" to generate a one-time download link. It expires after two minutes and stops working after first use, so nothing sits around to be scraped later.

06

Uninstalling

Uninstalling the app removes its stored data, including any saved organization key, from Forge's storage for your site.

07
